- Jane Daniel Munden
CHARLOTTE - Jane Daniel Munden, 87, a recent resident of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully January 4, 2014. Jane was born in Atlanta, GA on August 12, 1926 to Clayton and Genevieve Daniel. The family moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1938. Jane graduated from Reynolds High School and attended Salem College for a business course after which she became secretary of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for seven years. Jane was married to James E. Munden on October 24, 1953; they were married 60 years. They lived in Charlotte, NC for twenty-three years where their two children were born and Jane became an employee of Southern Bell. Moving back to Winston-Salem in 1977 she continued with the telephone company to retirement in 1991. Jane enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafts, party bridge at Forsyth Country Club and, for decades, Church Circles at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Working in the church library was a favorite volunteer activity. Jane was known for her cheery smile and easy conversation. She cared about people and their families; thank-you cards were always on hand and birthday wishes readily dispensed. In June, 2013, Jane and her husband moved from Winston-Salem to Indianapolis, IN. Jane is survived by her husband, James; son, James, Jr. and daughter, Genevieve. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Speedway, IN. Reverend Jeffrey Bower will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. John's Episcopal Church, 5625 West 30th Street Speedway, Indiana 46224 or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 520 Summit Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101. A Committal and reception will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, NC at a future date during spring 2014. Cremation services entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway.
