BISTANY, ALFRED JOHN Died at 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. He was 76, a native of Lawrence, Mass., and a resident of Pine Grove. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Baylor University Law School and practiced law more than 45 years in the state of Texas. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity. Visitation was at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday. Visitation at Shiloh Baptist Church, Pine Grove, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Joe Wilson, the Rev. Alvin Hall and the Rev. Darwin Hall. Interment in Shiloh Cemetery, Pine Grove. Survived by wife, Ferne McNabb Bistany, Pine Grove; daughter, Lori Kim Lea, Baton Rouge; son, Maj. Lester Roan Lea, Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren, Senior Airman Trey W. Beck, Landon Lea Beck and Whitney Kim Beck; cousin, Elias Gabriel, Methuen, Mass.; and a nephew, Phillip Abdoo, Methuen. Preceded in death by parents, Saide and Jenny Bistany.
