- Evelyn Igert Raynor
On Friday, May 27, 2016 Evelyn Raynor’s spirit was released from the frail body that had been life for just over 91 years. Our hearts are grieved at the loss and yet we have joy that she is no longer in pain and has entered her eternal reward. She was born May 24, 1925 in Braggs, Oklahoma to Theodore and Margaret (Tindell) Igert she was one of twelve children.
On June 25, 1943 she married Henry Raynor at the age of 18 and started a family raising 3 boys. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mom didn’t complain much, she just patiently endured….and prayed. She was intent on raising her family in church, to which she was a faithful member and attended until her health began to fail a few years ago.
She sacrificed much for her family. To mom it was, “just what she did.” It was a commitment that was without question or excuse. She made a little seem like a lot, and was always cooking, canning and keeping house.
Mom’s faithfulness to the house of God included teaching the same age in Sunday School for over 40 years in the First Baptist Church. She touched many young lives as she stored up treasures that she now enjoys.
Evelyn’s favorite pastime in her later years was sitting on her front porch. She was always reminiscing about Henry, her mom and dad and also her dear neighbor Glady’s Clinkenbeard. Her brothers and sisters were near and dear to her heart. She was always the peace maker.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Henry, her parents; Theodore and Margaret Igert, granddaughter; Angelique (Raynor) Thomas, brothers; Sam and Bobby Igert; sister; Linda (Igert) England.
She is survived by her sons; Jimmy and Kenny Raynor of Fort Gibson, OK and Lanny Raynor and wife XIO of Tulsa, OK. Grandchildren who proudly called her “Ninja Granny”. Grandchildren; Greg Raynor, Matthew Raynor, Candi Phillips, Billy Raynor, Andrea Harris and Dustin Raynor. Great-grandchildren; Garrett and Colton Raynor, Gunner & Mikey Phillips, Jordan, Courtney and Brinlee Raynor, Kaitlin, Tobias, Lindell and Emma Harris, sisters; Theda Rowan, Betty Arney, Shirley Vickery, Nancy Jones all of Fort Gibson, OK, brothers; Carl Igert of Midwest City, OK, Fred Igert, David Igert and Mickey Igert all of Fort Gibson, OK, a special friend, Darlene Wolfe and many nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Services for Evelyn will be 10:30, Thursday June 2, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson with Pastor Glen Rowan and Pastor Danny Gandara officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow in Citizens Cemetery with Butch Dunlap, Bub Rowan, Robert Igert, Kelly Jones, Randy Jones, Jerry Lee Vickery and Matthew Raynor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Robert Raines and Robert Raley.
The family of Evelyn Raynor has entrusted her services and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1224 E Poplar/PO Box 1973 Fort Gibson, OK (918) 478-2555
