Mount Vernon - Beverly Anne (Hoback) Flitton passed away from complications of dementia on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. Beverly was born in South Bend, Washington on January 29, 1933, to Lawrence and Trula Hoback. She had one brother, Leon, and one sister, Dolores (Dee). Beverly spent her youth in Everett, WA, graduating from Everett High School before attending and graduating from Central Washington College (CWC) in Ellensburg, WA. At CWC, she participated in the marching band, played the French Horn, and was on the competition rifle team. While visiting her sister in Puerto Rico, Beverly met and married Eldon David (Ed) Flitton. The two traveled worldwide and lived in many states as Ed served in the United States Air Force. Upon Ed's retirement, they moved to California, Nevada, and Utah before moving to Mount Vernon, WA in 1979. She had a very diversified life. She was an assistant schoolteacher, school bus driver, paint store owner, avid golfer, racquetball player, and mother. Her favorite loves were to travel on the Washington ferries around Puget Sound and eat Dungeness crab. Her greatest accomplishment, besides her family, was her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in various callings, including Relief Society President, and Sunday School Teacher, and participated in two church missions to Scotland and Australia. Fiercely independent, Beverly moved to Colorado Springs on a whim and lived there for 15 years before returning to Washington state where she lived in Puyallup, Oak Harbor, and finally settled back to Mount Vernon. She was determined to live independently until dementia began to take over. A year ago, to the week, she moved to North Ogden, UT to be near two of her children and several grand and great-grandchildren. She was fortunate to spend quality time with many of her family before her passing. Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and two children Daniel and Terry Flitton. She is survived by her sister and her three sons, Eldon David Flitton Jr. and his wife Renee, Mark Steven Flitton and his wife Lynn, and Lawrence Revelle Flitton and his wife Heidi; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her viewing will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm with a graveside service on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 am. The family gratefully thanks her caregivers and hospice for the excellent care she received in the remaining months of her life.
